How to track new Google Play releases automatically
A nightly job that pulls every app released on Google Play yesterday, filtered to the categories and install floor you care about.
Idea
Google Play has no public “newest apps” feed. The API builds one by diffing the catalogue every night, so you can simply ask for apps released on or after a date and get them newest first.
Yesterday’s launches
curl -H "X-API-Key: $API_KEY" \ "https://apiplay.net/api/v1/new?since=2026-10-27&min_installs=1000&sort=released"
Each result carries the package name, title, developer, category, release date and current installs and rating, so you can sort, group or alert on them however you like.
A nightly watcher
import os, datetime, requests
H = {"X-API-Key": os.environ["API_KEY"]}
day = (datetime.date.today() - datetime.timedelta(days=1)).isoformat()
r = requests.get("https://apiplay.net/api/v1/new",
params={"since": day, "until": day, "category": "FINANCE", "min_installs": 0},
headers=H, timeout=60).json()
for a in r["results"]:
print(a["released"], a["id"], a["title"], a["installs"]["label"])Catching apps early
Set min_installs to 0 to see every brand-new listing the day it appears, or to a small number to skip the long tail and watch only launches that already have a little traction.
Cost
One category checked nightly is a few hundred credits a month; a broad, no-floor daily pull across all categories costs more, so filter to the launches you actually track.
